Does Heart Disease Run in my Family?

Some of the diseases are thought to run in the family and people accept them helplessly. Mainly it is to do with diabetes, hypertension and heart problems.

But is it really true? Do we really inherit such a legacy and if that is the case, can we do anything about it?

The term “genetic predisposition” is sometimes used by physicians to convey that you as a patient is at higher probability of contracting a disease based on the family background and previous medical history. It means that if somebody has suffered from diabetes in the past in your family, you also run the risk of developing it, as compared to somebody whose family medical history does not reflect anything.

While it is true that there may be some predisposition and bias towards the family history, given the fact that almost every family would have had somebody with some health problem, resigning oneself to that fact and doing nothing about it is not the solution. One cannot be fatalistic in this and needs to take the right steps to effectively combat the problem.
In my own case, though I was genetically predisposed to heart disease, I did not acquire cholesterol due to any genetic influence but through my own inability to handle stress and lack of exercise. I also recognized that as somebody practicing healing, my cellular structure internalized the wrong messages through childhood and into adulthood, thereby causing problems to my health.

I realized that it had to do more with the faulty coping behavior that I had inherited from my ancestors than anything else. This coping methodology, due to its ineffectiveness, caused a lto of change in my cellular structure. Moreover, my diet of sugar, meat cooked in lard and exposure to white flour contributed to the damage of the cells and oriented them to function differently. Building the correct cellular memory is therefore very important to good health and can undo any previous medical history of health problems. The body conditioning system responds far better and is able to cope in healthy fashion to stimuli that is not in the interest of the system.

The spiritual significance of physical illness

Health issues are a function of the basic emotional, psychological and divine foundations related to those issues that have been established over the years and need to be addressed in that light.

At the physical level, one may be constrained to accept certain health legacies, but at the spiritual level, it need not be so. Consciousness and better mental clarity along with emotional balance has been known to positively impact the physiology in an individual. A calm mind has been known to reduce hypertension and reduce the impact of any severe illness. You can thus mitigate the effect of any disease on a long term basis by focusing on mind healing rather than superficially treating that ailment for that moment and risking a recurrence.
